MANAGING DIRECTOR – CONTRACTED STAFF
Approximately 12.5 hours per week
Wage: The hourly wage will be discussed upon hiring and will be commensurate with experience
Role Details
- 12-month part-time contract position offering approximately 12.5 hours per week with potential for extension after completion of 12 months
- This position reports to and works closely with the Executive Director
- This position also works closely with the Board of Directors, Artistic Director and volunteer Fundraising Committee
- Primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings and events (approx 2-4 per month)
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and execution of a grant strategy that leverages personal and community networks to generate funding in line with organizational goals
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Fundraising Committee; provide monthly reports from the Committee to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, including any items for approval such as Fundraising Plan and Committee budget
- Assist the Board of Directors in the identification of Fundraising Committee membership and assist the Committee chair and co-chair in new Committee member on-boarding
- In consultation with the Fundraising Committee and Executive Director, develop and implement strategies to increase public awareness of the organization, choir member recruitment, ticket sales, and community engagement projects
- Oversee performance activities including ticket sales, negotiation of performance specifics, rental and collaboration agreements, and front-of-house operations including merchandise sales, and volunteers
- Provide hands-on support at performances, fundraising and other special events, as needed
- When requested, attend Board of Directors meetings and provide updates on fundraising activities, marketing and promotions, performance activities, sponsorships and grants
Qualifications for this position include:
- A full understanding of what Momentum is and why it is so important
- Dedicated and enthusiastic interpersonal skills
- Well-developed relationship-building experience, empathy, and ability to deal with sensitive information with staff, volunteers, community partners, and business leaders
- Proven leadership and management skills to coach, mentor and inspire staff and volunteers to achieve organizational goals
- Demonstrated experience in stewarding and securing major and planned gifts and grants
- Strong organizational and communications skills, including delivering presentations to audiences of various sizes
- High level of personal initiative and ability to work independently
- Ability to work flexible work hours based on special events, meetings, etc. that may fall outside of traditional work hours (evenings, weekends)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience working in a non-profit leadership position including experience working closely with a Board of Directors

Momentum Choir is a unique professional ensemble, exclusively consisting of adult artists living with a physical, emotional or intellectual disability.
Founded in 2007, Momentum Choir was born out of musical therapist Mendelt Hoekstra’s desire to enrich the lives of those living with disabilities through music and community involvement.
