BOARD OF DIRECTORS – MEMBER AT LARGE
Member at Large Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills
Member at Large Responsibilities- estimated time for this voluntary position is 3 hours per month.
- Attending and participating in monthly Board of Directors meetings
- Participation in decisions made by the Board of Directors
- In addition, member may participate in specific tasks or projects of interest
Expectations of all members of the Board of Directors:
- An understanding of what Momentum Choir is and why it is so important
- Complete and provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check when starting their role and complete an Annual Declaration each year.
- Attend and participate in all monthly Board meetings. If unable to attend, the Chair of the Board of Directors must be notified in advance of the meeting. Required to attend at least 80% of meetings.
- Responsible for creating and fostering an open environment where opinions can freely be expressed, discussed, and valued. Be an enthusiastic and dedicated member.
- Responsible for upholding the “Momentum Choir constitution, By-Laws, and Governance Policies”.
- Complete assigned readings and uphold the expectations for specific policies each year as outlined on Momentum policies.
- Responsible for ensuring that each item discussed at the Board of Directors meetings will be kept confidential, unless otherwise stated, regardless of whether a current or past member of the Board.
- Each member of the Board of Directors can hold two terms, each term is three years. If a member wishes to end their term earlier, it is their responsibility to provide the Board with a signed letter of resignation.

Momentum Choir is a registered, Canadian not-for-profit organization that serves over 100 choir members, their families and caregivers in the Niagara Region and the City of Hamilton in the province of Ontario. Momentum Choir is a unique professional ensemble, exclusively consisting of adult artists living with a physical, emotional or intellectual disability.
Founded in 2007, Momentum Choir was born out of musical therapist Mendelt Hoekstra’s desire to enrich the lives of those living with disabilities through music and community involvement. The organization’s programs focus on nurturing musical talents, fostering inclusivity, and breaking down societal stigmas. Through professional training, dedication and teamwork, choir members discover a sense of accomplishment, pride, and self-worth.
